Call for Abstracts

The Infection Prevention & Control Nurses College - NZNO conference organising committee warmly invites submissions for oral and poster presentations for the biennial conference, to be held at Tākina Wellington Convention & Exhibition Centre, 26-28 August 2026. 
 
Our conference is called “Lights, Camera, Prevention!”
 
This references Wellington’s movie making industry and showcases innovation in infection control from around the motu, as well as globally.
 
Ngā Paerewa Health and Disability Services Standard informs our programme:
  • Innovation in Leadership 
  • Innovation in IPC programme and implementation 
  • Innovation in AMS 
  • Innovation in surveillance of healthcare associated infections 
  • Innovation in managing the environment
 
If your presentation does not fit neatly into these themes, please submit it regardless.  We encourage submissions from the public, private (including aged residential care) and non-profit sectors.

Abstract Submission Guidelines
Format
  • Paper presentations will be 20-25 minutes + 2 minutes question time.
  • Poster presenters will be asked to attend the poster session. Posters are to be A0 size and portrait orientation (vertical).  A0 size = 841mm wide x 1189mm high
Title
Maximum 20 Words
Use a concise title that describes the content of the abstract. Spell out genus and species names of microorganisms (i.e. Staphylococcus aureus) as well as all other acronyms at first use.
 
Abstract
Maximum 300 words
The abstract should be a condensed and accurate summary of the important points of the presentation.  For research presentations, the abstract should describe the:
  • Rationale
  • Methodology
  • Significant results
  • Conclusions
  • Recommendations
 
Abstracts will be reviewed by the conference committee and they will consider each abstract according to:
  • the clarity of the background and aim/s of the research
  • the appropriateness of the methods and analysis/research findings
  • significance of contribution to IPC
 
Authors
Please include all authors – presenting and non-presenting - including a bio for each presenter of up to 100 words max.
 
Review process
The conference committee will consider each abstract according to:
  1. the clarity of the background and aim/s of the research
  2. the appropriateness of the methods and analysis/research findings
  3. significance of contribution to IPC.
 
Note: Posters-Only
  • Poster presentations will be displayed throughout the event.
  • Posters: A0 – 841mm x 1189mm size. Posters are not required in advance – bring to conference with you.
  • Poster presenters will be required to stand at their poster during assigned breaks.
  • Complete information concerning poster presentations will be included in the abstract acceptance email.
  • Reminder: Poster presentations may not be used to market products or services. Avoid the use of trade names in the poster.
